KATSINA – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has eliminated two notorious bandit kingpins, Gero (Alhaji) and Alhaji Riga, in a precision airstrike targeting terrorist hideouts in Katsina State.The Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, confirmed the successful operation in a statement on Friday, March 14.“The Nigerian Air Force has delivered a devastating blow to banditry in Katsina State,” Ali stated. “The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma executed a precision airstrike in the early hours of March 13, 2025, decimating notorious bandit hideouts in Unguwar Goga Hillforest, Ruwan Godiya Ward, Faskari Local Government Area.”According to Ali, the operation was based on “careful and actionable intelligence” and effectively destroyed the fortified camps of the targeted bandit leaders.“Over 20 criminals were neutralized in the strike, with additional casualties reported in the surrounding rocky hills,” he added.Ali further emphasized the significance of the strike, noting that the slain bandit leaders were key enablers of violent activities in the region.“This operation is a major step in degrading the operational capabilities of these criminal elements,” he said.Residents of Faskari LGA have reportedly welcomed the development, expressing relief over the ongoing military efforts to combat banditry in the area.
