Delta Governor Sacks Special Adviser Over Alleged Links to Murder of Sand Dealer

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has terminated the appointment of Eruteyan Ejiro Eradajaye, his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, following allegations linking him to the murder of Sam Ophie, a sand dealer in the Adagbrassa-Ugolo community. Eradajaye, who is also the chairman of the community, was reportedly involved in a confrontation with Ophie at a local sand beach, which escalated into violence. During the altercation, Ophie was allegedly assaulted and fatally stabbed by individuals believed to be Eradajaye’s loyalists.

In an official statement on Thursday, Dr. Kingsley Emu, the Secretary to the State Government, confirmed Eradajaye’s immediate dismissal. The statement also warned the public to avoid conducting any official business with Eradajaye, stressing that he no longer holds any position in the Delta State Government. It read: “The Delta State Government has terminated the appointment of Mr. Eruteyan Ejiro Eradajaye, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on special duties, with immediate effect. The public is advised to refrain from engaging with him in any official capacity.”

Eradajaye’s removal comes as tensions rise in the community, with investigations into the incident still ongoing.
