The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Dino Melaye, a former senator and a prominent supporter of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The suspension was announced by the executive committee of Ayetoro Gbede Ward 1 after Melaye failed to respond to a summons. The Ward executives cited Melaye’s involvement in anti-party activities and alleged misconduct that had brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party.
During a meeting held on Friday, the Ward executives reviewed the findings of a disciplinary committee established to investigate Melaye’s actions. Following this review, the executives decided to suspend him.
The resolution, which was signed by the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika, and the Secretary, Yodson Dayo, declared that Melaye’s continued membership in the PDP was untenable.
“The suspension is in accordance with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which empowers the Ward executives to take disciplinary actions against members who violate party rules,” the statement read in part.
The suspension is effective immediately.
