Honda Serves Up Winning Formula at Lagos Country Club Squash League

The maiden edition of the Honda Captain’s Squash League Series ended on a high note at the Squash Section of the Lagos Country Club after five days of intense competition, camaraderie and top-class performances.

The tournament, which ran from April 27 to May 1, 2026, attracted more than 36 registered players from the club’s Squash Section, making it one of the most competitive internal league events hosted by the section in recent times. The grand finale took place on Friday, May 1, at the club’s squash courts in Ikeja.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chairman of the Squash Section, Sesan Asani, said the competition was designed to deepen unity among members while raising the standard of squash within the club.

“The mission of the Honda Captain’s League Series is to encourage the spirit of competition, foster unity, build team spirit and improve the standard of the game of squash within the section,” Asani said.

Sponsors of the tournament, Honda Nigeria, expressed satisfaction with the success of the inaugural edition and pledged continued support for the initiative.

Managing Director of Honda Nigeria, Daisuke Mita, praised the turnout and the quality of play displayed throughout the tournament.

“We are impressed with the turnout of members and the quality of play witnessed during the competition. It reflects the top-quality performance and brand promise that Honda represents,” Mita said.

He also assured participants and organisers of Honda’s commitment to sustaining the competition.

“We look forward to an even bigger league series next year,” he added.

Also speaking, Head of Sales, Marketing and Logistics at Honda Nigeria, Remi Adams, described the tournament as a successful partnership between the automobile company and the club’s squash community.

“We are excited by the outcome of the competition and will continue exploring more ways of collaborating with the executive committee of the Squash Section to further drive the value of the Honda brand among our target audience,” Adams said.

The successful debut of the Honda Captain’s Squash League Series has already sparked anticipation among members for a bigger and more competitive second edition next year.
