Many journalists believe that the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) exists solely to protect the welfare of its members. However, few realize it has become a gold mine for a select few driven by greed.

Recently leaked audio recordings of Victorson Agbenson, a candidate for the office of NUJ FCT Chairman, exposes shocking allegations.

The recording reveals how a man who initially couldn’t afford to purchase the election form allegedly planned to rig his way into office with the intent of exploiting the Union’s resources.

Mr. Agbenson, who portrays himself as a man of integrity, is likened to a wolf in sheep’s clothing. This so-called champion of “fraudulent integrity” has a tainted history.

As a former Chairman of a prominent Chapel in the FCT, he was embroiled in a scandal involving the embezzlement of cooperative funds. The incident escalated to the point where the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) had to intervene to recover the stolen funds on behalf of aggrieved members.

Agbenson was reportedly remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre for a week, only agreeing to return a portion of the misappropriated millions after significant pressure.
