Lagos Country Club Unveils Bold 2026 Roadmap at Glamorous New Year Party

The Lagos Country Club (LCC) has kicked off the New Year in grand style, hosting a glittering New Year Party that combined elegance, tradition and a forward-looking vision for 2026.

The event, which drew top figures from Nigeria’s social, business and professional circles, also served as the platform for unveiling the Club’s ambitious 2026 Developmental Roadmap.

Members and guests arrived in dazzling outfits, turning the Club’s grounds into a vibrant centre of celebration and networking. The night was further dignified by the presence of His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remo, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Lawrence Jayeoba, the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo.

In his welcome address, LCC President, Mr. Seyi Adewunmi, described the Club as more than just a social venue.

“The Lagos Country Club is far more than a social space; it is a vibrant ecosystem of over 3,000 members who represent the pinnacle of the Nigerian elite and the engine room of our professional landscape,” Adewunmi said.

He outlined key priorities for 2026, with a strong focus on infrastructural renewal and improving the overall member experience. Central to the vision is the proposed Youth and E Section (YES), a modern facility designed to engage younger members through technology and contemporary recreation.

Adewunmi appealed for support from the Lagos State Government, noting that the YES Project aligns with broader goals of youth empowerment and long-term institutional sustainability.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Are Kolawole Oyefeso, commended the current leadership for sustaining the Club’s high standards and urged new members to protect its legacy.

Are Kola Oyefeso, Chairman Board of Trustees, Mr. Seyi Adewunmi, Hon. President Lagos Country Club, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, Hon. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State and representative of Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, Governor Lagos State and His Royal Majesty Oba Lawrence Jayeoba, the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo

“This is a great Club built by the collective efforts of past officers. You must continue to build on the legacy you inherit,” Oyefeso advised.

Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, drew parallels between the resilience of the Club and the spirit of Lagos State.

He noted that, like the LCC, Lagos faced serious challenges in 2025, including the Great Nigeria Insurance House fire and a tragic maritime accident, but rebounded with strength.

“Lagos has an uncommon ability to bounce back. That same can-do spirit is what defines the Lagos Country Club,” Omotoso said.

He highlighted the state’s recent tourism boom and success in hosting global events, urging members to continue to see the Club as a symbol of unity, harmony and endurance.

A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of Special Awards to former Management Council members for their selfless service.

In a standout moment, the 2025 Resource Person Award was presented to Mr. Segun Shonubi, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, for his strategic communication efforts that significantly boosted the Club’s brand visibility.

The night ended with lively entertainment, networking and formal toasts to the Lagos Country Club, Lagos State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, setting the tone for a vibrant and prosperous 2026.
