Three Killed as LPG Tanker Explodes in Ibadan

Three people were killed on Friday when a tanker carrying 15 tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) exploded at Idi-Iroko, Amuloko area of Ibadan.

According to officials, the incident occurred while the tanker was off-loading its contents into a gas skid tank.

Confirming the tragedy in a statement on Saturday, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Mr. Maroof Akinwande, described the explosion as “a devastating loss.”

“Our operatives received a distress call at exactly 7:40 p.m. on Friday from one Pastor Oyebamiji,” Akinwande said.
“Three lives were sadly lost, and the fire also damaged two shops and a residential building.”

He added that firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene to contain the situation and prevent further destruction.

Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the cause of the explosion.
