Bishop Matthew Hassan-Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto has revealed that President Bola Tinubu did not sign a peace accord during his presidential candidacy. Speaking at the Edo Election Security Townhall in Benin City, Kukah expressed concern that political parties and their candidates’ refusal to sign the Peace Accord could send a negative message to Nigerians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to The Press Nigeria, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also declined to sign the peace agreement due to accusations against the police. Kukah, a key figure in the National Peace Committee, explained that while the committee encourages candidates to sign the accord, it is not legally binding, only a moral commitment. He highlighted that, in 2015, PDP’s Atiku Abubakar initially did not sign but later rectified the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
