President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to phase out manual processes and fully embrace digital operations, declaring that inefficiency in public service must end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on Wednesday at the opening of the International Civil Service Conference 2026 in Abuja, the President said his administration was transforming the Civil Service to deliver faster, transparent and citizen-focused services in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Tinubu said the Federal Government was shifting governance from routine policy formulation to measurable and impactful results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President revealed that 38 Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments had already migrated to secure paperless and end-to-end electronic workflow systems, describing the achievement as a major milestone in the ongoing public sector reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we spoke of digitalisation in 2025, some may have considered it an ambition for the distant future. Today, with 38 Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments operating on a secure, paperless and end-to-end electronic workflow system, we are sending a clear message: Nigeria is building a public service that enables progress,\u201d Tinubu said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that bureaucracy should no longer hinder development but instead serve as a catalyst for efficiency, innovation and inclusive growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tinubu also disclosed that the ongoing Personnel Audit and Skills Gap Analysis, initiated after the previous conference, was nearing completion. According to him, the exercise is aimed at identifying competency gaps and repositioning civil servants to meet the demands of modern governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are identifying gaps, strengthening competencies and ensuring that the right people are placed in the right roles, equipped with the digital skills and professional discipline required for 21st-century governance,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The President linked the reforms to the Federal Government\u2019s Project BRIDGE initiative \u2014 Building Resilient Digital Infrastructure for Growth \u2014 which he said would enhance connectivity, create jobs and strengthen service delivery across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He consequently directed all MDAs to sustain and expand digital processes in their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe era of manual inefficiency must give way to a culture of speed, transparency, data-driven decision-making and citizen-centred service,\u201d Tinubu declared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Tinubu further urged participants at the conference to ensure that ongoing reforms produce tangible and lasting results, noting that Nigerians expect accountability and efficient service delivery from public institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, said reforms under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021\u20132025 had significantly transformed operations within the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to her, the reforms have improved institutional performance, strengthened service delivery and introduced innovative digital tools reshaping governance processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walson-Jack cited platforms such as Service-Wise GPT as evidence of the Civil Service\u2019s commitment to innovation, efficiency and technology-driven governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that collaboration among MDAs had been instrumental in sustaining the momentum of reforms and assured Nigerians that the Civil Service would continue evolving into a more agile and professional institution capable of supporting national development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
