{"id":27841,"date":"2026-03-08T21:47:02","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T20:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youdonhear.org\/?p=27841"},"modified":"2026-03-08T21:47:04","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T20:47:04","slug":"iran-ready-to-support-nigeria-in-fight-against-terrorism-ambassador-raja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/youdonhear.org\/?p=27841","title":{"rendered":"\u201cIran Ready to Support Nigeria in Fight Against Terrorism\u201d \u2013 Ambassador Raja"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Raja, has dismissed allegations that Iran is spreading terrorism in Nigeria, stating that the country is willing to assist Nigeria in tackling violent extremism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking during an interview with Arise Television, Raja said Iran strongly condemns terrorism and is prepared to cooperate with Nigeria and other countries facing security threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIran condemns terrorism of any kind and expresses readiness to cooperate with governments facing it,\u201d Raja said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing Nigeria\u2019s security challenges, particularly the activities of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, the ambassador reiterated Iran\u2019s willingness to support efforts aimed at combating violent extremism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNigeria faces security challenges from Boko Haram and ISWAP, and we are ready to support the government in combating terrorism,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Raja noted that Iran\u2019s stance against terrorism is shaped by its own experiences with extremist attacks, describing the country as a victim of terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs a victim of terrorism ourselves, we condemn terrorism in Nigeria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ambassador also rejected allegations circulating globally that Iran poses a threat to peace in other countries, describing such claims as unfounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFirst of all, they are just baseless allegations which that person raised,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Raja explained that many Muslims around the world feel a spiritual and cultural connection with Iran but stressed that such ties should not be interpreted as political support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIran has so many followers, according to the followers of the spiritual leader. Those persons, Muslims \u2014 not only the Shiites, not only the Sunnis \u2014 they are followers spiritually and culturally, not politically,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that some public gatherings in Africa following the assassination of Iran\u2019s supreme leader were peaceful mourning events and should not be seen as political alignment with Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat doesn\u2019t mean that Iran is defending those groups, no, no, no.
