{"id":27836,"date":"2026-03-08T21:34:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T20:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youdonhear.org\/?p=27836"},"modified":"2026-03-08T21:34:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T20:34:15","slug":"pdp-governors-call-for-calm-ahead-of-appeal-court-verdict-on-party-leadership-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/youdonhear.org\/?p=27836","title":{"rendered":"PDP Governors Call for Calm Ahead of Appeal Court Verdict on Party Leadership Crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors\u2019 Forum has appealed to members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding as the Court of Appeal prepares to deliver judgment on the party\u2019s lingering leadership dispute on Monday, March 9, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The forum, chaired by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, made the call in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by its Director-General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mohammed urged party faithful across the country to respect the judicial process and avoid actions that could escalate tensions before or after the ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhatever the outcome of the court\u2019s ruling, the PDP reaffirms its respect for the judicial process and its commitment to peace,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasised that the judiciary plays a critical role in maintaining fairness, impartiality and stability within Nigeria\u2019s democratic system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the forum, the PDP has historically been a key pillar in the country\u2019s democratic development, contributing to the strengthening of institutions and governance structures that safeguard citizens\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe forum calls on party members and leaders to show maximum restraint and remain law-abiding before, during and after the ruling,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The governors further disclosed that the party leadership would convene immediately after the court\u2019s decision to review its implications and determine the appropriate next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the forum reassured party members with political ambitions that the PDP remains committed to providing a credible platform for them to contest and win elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the Independent National Electoral Commission\u2019s timetable for the polls already in place, the governors said the party would continue to protect the political aspirations of its members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement stressed that democracy thrives on the diversity of opinions, healthy competition of ideas and the freedom of citizens to choose among credible alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reiterating its confidence in the rule of law, the PDP Governors\u2019 Forum assured Nigerians that the party would continue to uphold democratic values while offering what it described as a people-centred political alternative, regardless of the outcome of the court\u2019s judgment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors&rsquo; Forum has appealed to members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding as the Court of Appeal prepares to deliver judgment on the party&rsquo;s lingering leadership dispute on Monday, March 9, 2026.
