{"id":10960,"date":"2025-04-15T15:11:48","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T14:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youdonhear.org\/?p=10960"},"modified":"2025-04-15T15:11:49","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T14:11:49","slug":"pdp-will-not-merge-with-any-party-were-coming-back-strong-in-2027-says-jerry-gana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/youdonhear.org\/?p=10960","title":{"rendered":"\u201cPDP Will Not Merge With Any Party\u2014We\u2019re Coming Back Strong in 2027,\u201d Says Jerry Gana"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Former Minister for Information and National Orientation and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), <strong>Professor Jerry Gana<\/strong>, has firmly ruled out any merger or coalition between the PDP and other political parties ahead of the <strong>2027 general elections<\/strong>, declaring that the party remains the only trusted and structured political alternative in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking in <strong>Bida, Niger State<\/strong>, at the Nupe Christian Fellowship International Conference, the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) member assured Nigerians that the party is undergoing serious internal reorganisation and will soon present a new leadership and credible presidential candidate to reclaim national confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong>PDP will not join any coalition<\/strong> because when we formed the party in 1998, it was already a coalition\u2014a platform for democracy. All the party needs now is a new leadership, and we shall surprise Nigerians with a good and credible candidate for 2027,\u201d Gana stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gana stressed that despite the current challenges within the opposition party, PDP remains <strong>\u201cformidable, organised, and absolutely trusted by Nigerians.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKnowing the capacity, the ideas and power that we possess, we cannot go into a merger or coalition with any political party. <strong>PDP is the only political party that is tested and trusted and found to be the only option for Nigeria\u2019s greatness<\/strong>,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He acknowledged internal mistakes made by the party in recent years but assured supporters that these errors are being corrected with honesty and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe truth is that PDP made some mistakes and that is why we are where we are today. In 1998, when the PDP was formed, we agreed on a power shift between north and south to ensure national stability and equity. In 2023, some of us stood firm that it was time for power to return to the south\u2014but a few others disagreed. That was a serious mistake,\u201d Gana revealed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on the party\u2019s legacy, he said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPDP is a very solid and organized political party. It took over power from the military and restored democracy, good governance, fairness, justice, and equity in the country. <strong>Under PDP, Nigeria paid her foreign debts and built durable institutions.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professor Gana expressed deep concern over Nigeria\u2019s current <strong>economic hardship and insecurity<\/strong>, contrasting it with the relative stability during the PDP years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is unfortunate that some people made a few mistakes because they don\u2019t know how to govern. <strong>The economy was doing well under PDP. We had direction, we had policies, and we had results.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite being in opposition, Gana maintained that the PDP remains the <strong>most credible platform<\/strong> for Nigeria\u2019s future, urging the public to be patient as the party repositions itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cForget the struggle to be here and there. There\u2019s a new political order emerging.
